Your Brand and Luck: Ways to Attract Good Fortune for Your Business

While it’s customary for most people to celebrate the Chinese New Year, we all look forward to welcoming luck into us. Even business owners, startup leaders, and corporate gurus too, observe their own lucky rituals to keep good fortune coming in. I had this encounter with a startup leader who asked me “Paano ba ako magiging maswerte sa negosyo?” (“How can I be lucky in business?”) I didn’t respond like I’m a feng shui master but I left her with these answers:

Maximize every opportunity.

Lucky people don’t just sit and wait for luck to come. Make that first call, launch your ads, or reach out to your network! Do not be afraid to make a step to start something great. Grab the chance to speak at industry events. Join organizations and digital communities of professionals in your industry. These will increase the chance of creating a buzz about you and your brand.

Think deeply.

When you feel frustrated, you are used to rushing into decisions which you might regret later. Try to calm yourself a bit and think about your choices. Is this going to work or not? Consider the variables that would affect and will be affected by your decision. Doing this will help you come up with smart decisions that may create a positive impact to your operations.

Trust your gut.

You’ve been in the industry for quite some time. There’s always some truth for every intuition you have in mind about a thing. Dig deeper, look for clues, and act upon your hunches. It’s a skill that every businessman needs to hone to avoid so that you will not be caught unprepared to act, most especially when you’re pressed into a critical situation.

Turn Bad Luck to Good Luck.

Having a positive mindset despite all the negativities around will help you turn things to your favor. Did a customer give you a negative review? Make use of that as a challenge to improve your product even more! Failure is part of the business. What matters most is learning from your mistakes and doing it better.

Seek for advice.

Whenever all things fail and you’re having a hard time to come up with a decision, always seek for advice from friends, family, or industry experts. When different minds collide, you’ll get a wider perspective which would help you in the thinking process.

Real luck does not always come from putting ornaments, keeping with the traditions, or simple faith. We are not implying that these practices do not do you good. But doing it, coupled by these ways, will attract good luck to your business even more.
